Professor Andrea Tosato named Homer R. Mitchell Endowed Professor in Commercial and Insurance Law

Professor Andrea Tosato has been named Homer R. Mitchell Endowed Professor in Commercial and Insurance Law.

The Homer R. Mitchell Endowed Professor in Commercial and Insurance Law was created in 1997 by James P. Mitchell and Sarah R. Mitchell. The professorship is named in honor of Homer R. Mitchell, who was instrumental in the market for workers' compensation insurance.

Tosato joined SMU Dedman School of Law in Fall 2024 as Professor of Law. Before joining SMU, Tosato boasted over 15 years of experience in legal research and higher education, with a specialty in commercial law, private law, and technology.

Tosato has continued to build on his distinguished body of scholarship here at SMU, with several notable publications over the past academic year.
