Andrea Arterbery is a Dallas-based journalist, educator and former New York City resident with extensive experience covering beauty, fashion and lifestyle. She has reported on multiple seasons of New York Fashion Week and interviewed a wide range of fashion designers and industry leaders.

Her work has appeared in leading publications including Women’s Wear Daily, The New York Times, Cosmopolitan, Teen Vogue and ESSENCE. In addition to editorial work, she has developed social media strategies and brand copy for major beauty retailers and brands such as CoverGirl and ULTA.

She was named Outstanding Graduate Student by the Mayborn School of Journalism at the University of North Texas and is a recipient of SMU’s Extra Mile Award. This honor is awarded by students to faculty who demonstrate exceptional sensitivity and support for diverse learning needs. She is also the recipient of the Mary Jo Small Fellowship, which supported her participation in the conference of The Society for the Future of Higher Education.

Her scholarly work has been presented at national academic conferences, including the Broadcast Education Association, where her research papers have earned high placement in the Multicultural Division competition.

As an instructor, Arterbery integrates professional newsroom and brand experience into the classroom, emphasizing critical thinking, reporting and digital storytelling. She is deeply committed to mentoring emerging journalists, particularly those navigating nontraditional academic paths, helping students develop both professional confidence and a strong journalistic voice. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in communications, where her research explores fashion media, representation and cultural narratives.
