SMU Taos is a beautiful 423-acre campus with classroom, dining, and housing spaces nestled in the Carson National Forest. As part of SMU, the Taos campus is open to requests from both internal SMU and external groups to use for retreats, conferences, and meetings. The SMU Taos campus provides a unique backdrop for your group to meet and experience engaging activities in a stunning natural environment that goes far beyond the usual meeting locale. We take pride in accommodating each group with the kind of personal care and attention you can only find on a small private campus like ours.

Requests must be submitted a minimum of 3 months prior to the requested event dates. Please be aware that SMU Taos Terms will take precedence over group requests, as a result dates in January, May, June, July, and August fill quickly. Internal and External groups may be charged for their use of campus and required services during their stay included but not limited to Dining, Housing, Room fees, Technology fees, etc. 

SMU Taos staff may decline requests to use campus for any reason.

 

 

SMU Taos Request Process

1) Submit an Inquiry Form

If you are interested in hosting your next conference or retreat at the SMU Taos campus, please submit the inquiry form All inquiries must be submitted 3 months prior to the event dates requested. A staff member will review your inquiry and respond within 7 business days. SMU Taos staff may decline requests to use campus for any reason. 

2) Communicate with the SMU Taos team

SMU Taos staff will reach out to your after your inquiry submission to clarify any remaining questions before sending a quote for campus use. This could include clarifying questions about group size, housing expectations, or dates if the campus is booked for the requested time.

3) If Approved, Receive a Quote 

Once prepared, SMU staff will send you a quote for your requested use of campus. You will have time to review the quote and ask questions before confirming. 

4) Approve quote and Sign Contract for Campus Use

Once you approve your quote, you will work with SMU Taos staff to confirm logistics for your use of campus and sign any required contracts or paperwork required by SMU or your company/institution.

Conference and Meeting Services

SMU Taos campus spaces are available upon request for visiting groups on a single or multi-day basis. All use requests should be included in your Inquiry Form and include information regarding what spaces will be used, how many individuals will be attending, and if housing and food will be needed.

Amenities Available to Groups Include...

The SMU Taos campus is designed to house faculty, students, and staff for short periods of time. Furnished housing with private and shared options is available. Fully private housing units are very limited, with a majority of the housing on campus being shared dorms. 

Housing on campus for all groups will include provided linens and towels. All housing on the SMU Taos campus does not include central air conditioning, as the buildings are adobe, but fans can be provided upon request in the summer months.

All Dining and Food service must be arranged with request for campus use in advance. Dining services are brought into campus on a need basis and not readily available. All dining expenses will be included in your quote for campus use.

Our executive chef and dining staff will work with you to meet your dining needs and any dietary restrictions within your group. 

Dining is not available on campus without prior request.

Classrooms, auditorium, conference rooms, dining halls, outdoor meeting spaces are available for groups to rent. Each room has a different rate based on use and length of stay on campus. Please include details for all your needs on your inquiry form.
